The partnership between Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray lasted only six months, which did not bring the results that the Serbian legend hoped for in this last part of his career. With the exception of the semifinal at the Australian Open and the final at the Miami Open, the other results of the former world number 1 have not lived up to expectations and Nole has highlighted almost all the same problems as last year.
The 37-year-old from Belgrade – who will not be among the top four seeds at Roland Garros later this month – announced his split from Murray through a post on X, in which he thanked the former Scottish champion for his help but did not reveal who his next coach will be.
Andy tried to support the 24-time Grand Slam champion despite having no experience as a coach, but he didn’t give Novak the impetus that many would have expected. Almost no one thought that the 3-time Grand Slam champion would accept this role a few months after retiring from professional tennis, but evidently the prospect of helping one of the best players ever had intrigued Murray.
Djokovic and Murray broke up
Several analysts and insiders wonder if the Briton will continue his coaching career in the future or if he will devote his time to other projects.
Speaking on Tennis Channel, former world number 1 Andy Roddick tried to answer this interesting question: “I don’t think it’s going to happen any time soon, I think this is an exceptional circumstance with someone he probably wanted to learn from.
They have a friendship before. I don’t think this is going to be something we see from Murray, at least on the traveling side, and maybe we see him work with people in London.”
The American legend also added: “I think his brain always wants to work in the tennis space. But I would be shocked if he went on the road with someone else any time soon.”
