It looks like Andy Murray isn’t ready to accept defeat in his high-profile golf match alongside brother Jamie this week. The iconic tennis siblings made a popular appearance on the @forebrosgolf YouTube channel to take on content creators Alex Pye and Luke Nichols in a special 2v2 scramble match.
The footage went down a storm with viewers, who lauded the tennis icon for the humour he showed throughout. The match was also an enthralling one, going to sudden death before Murray missed a 20-foot putt on the second extra hole. Even then, he was amusing in defeat, shouting “You pussy you’ve got to hit it” as his ball came up short.
However, now the three-time Grand Slam winner is seemingly hoping for a change of result. The 38-year-old posted a statement on his Instagram story where he claimed Pye and Nichols had been guilty of a potential rules breach.
“After suffering one of the worst and most disappointing losses of my sporting career last week, it’s been brought to my attention that a major rules infraction may have taken place on the second playoff hole,” he wrote.
Upon video review, it appears an illegal drop was made from a cart path. Awaiting verdict from rules officials on appropriate penalty, so will keep you all posted.”
