Jenna Ortega's Favorite Wednesday Episode Is What I Want To See More Of In Season 2

Season 2 of Wednesday is just around the corner, with Jenna Ortega once again taking on the monochromatic mantle of the creepy and kooky Wednesday Addams. The character who bewitched her way into the hearts of viewers everywhere had some iconic moments from season 1, including the dance scene in episode 4. Wednesday season 2 will attempt to follow up the viral moment with a waltz from Gomez and Morticia Addams, going by the trailer.

Wednesday season 2 promises a new villain and a new mystery, and I’m hopeful that Ortega stepping in as an executive producer will ensure that Wednesday stays true to the main protagonist. Not only does the star look the part, but she has a good grasp of the character and her mannerisms. It’s reassuring that Ortega’s favorite episode from season 1 also happens to be the one that I think should be used as a cornerstone for season 2.

In a TUDUM article from 2023, Ortega revealed that her favorite Wednesday episode from season 1 was episode 3, “Friend or Woe.” Ortega explained that she felt the cast and crew had found their footing by this episode and detailed why she felt the episode was underrated by viewers.

“I feel like episode 3 is kind of underrated just because there’s that explosion with the statue and we get that awesome cello piece. There’s the god-awful pilgrim costume. There’s the fight sequence. There’s a lot of Eugene [Moosa Mostafa], who’s just the funniest guy of all time, in my opinion. We also shot it midway through, so I felt like everyone kind of found their footing and was in the grip of things by the time we shot that.”

“Friend of Woe” has Wednesday and the students of Nevermore Academy attend Outreach Day in the town of Jericho. Wednesday accompanied the marching band with her cello during the dedication of a new memorial statue of founder Joseph Crackstone. However, Wednesday rigs the statue to explode with help from Thing, and the townspeople flee in a panic as she stoically performs Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons.” The episode highlights Wednesday’s sly and rebellious nature as she refuses to conform to the expectations of Nevermore Academy. Moments like these in the episode helped cement Ortega’s iconic performance as the titular character.
