Maria Sharapova looks unrecognizable over a decade

Maria Sharapova, once a highly recognizable figure in sports, has undergone a significant transformation since her retirement from tennis.

Sharapova’s former coach recently offered Coco Gauff a reality check, while she has teamed up with Novak Djokovic and former rival Serena Williams made a surprising admission about her.

The world was stunned when Sharapova clinched the Wimbledon title at just 17 years old in 2004, defeating Lindsey Davenport. This victory marked the start of a stellar career that ended after the 2020 Australian Open.

During her peak, the tennis star also claimed two French Open titles, as well as the U.S. Open and Australian Open. Despite being one of the most marketable athletes worldwide, fans might now have to look twice to recognize the tennis legend, who’s last Grand Slam win at Roland-Garros came over a decade ago in 2014.

Sharapova retired five years ago and has since traded her signature blonde hair for a darker shade. The transition to brunette a few years back has given Sharapova a different appearance compared to her tennis prime.
