Sometimes, even Victoria Beckham feels the pressure. It’s a vulnerable side of her that fans will see, perhaps for the first time, in her new documentary series.

The three-part Netflix docuseries, Victoria Beckham, will follow the star’s life and career arc from Spice Girls pop star to designer as she navigates her eponymous fashion and beauty business — and emotions will run high, according to the first trailer for the show.

In the official trailer, released Sept. 17, Victoria, 51, gets emotional while discussing the pressure she feels to not only succeed as a designer, but to make her family — husband David Beckham and their four kids, Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14 — proud of her.

“I want my kids and David to be proud of me. It’s taken so long to get to this point,” she says at one point in the trailer, her voice cracking slightly. “I’m not gonna let it slip through my fingers again.”

Elsewhere in the trailer, the beauty mogul recalls her time as a performer and before that, her time as an “awkward” child, assuring fans that she has “never forgotten where I come from.”

“Performing was my dream. The Spice Girls made me accept who I am. And then all of a sudden, it stopped,” the mom of four says in the trailer.

“That uncool kid at school that’s awkward, that was me,” she later says as childhood photos of the star flash on screen. “But I desperately wanted to be liked, [to] have a sense of worth. Fashion was this creative outlet. A lot of people didn’t take it seriously.

That refusal to take her seriously lasted well after she pivoted from pop stardom to fashion in the late 2000s, the trailer recounts. (The star first launched her eponymous label in 2008.)

Seemingly discussing the public reaction to Victoria’s transition from singer to designer, Eva Longoria says: “Everybody’s warning her, ‘You will not be accepted.’ ” Meanwhile, Victoria herself recalls: “People thought, ‘She was a pop star. She’s married to a footballer. Who does she think she is?’ ”

Now an ultra-successful venture, Victoria Beckham’s eponymous brand had low points — which will also be explored in the doc, the new trailer teases. At one point, the designer recalls the “panic” that came with being “millions in the red.” She also appears to take fans behind the scenes as she prepares “for the biggest fashion show I have ever done.”
