Pamela Anderson looks back fondly on ‘frisky alcohol-fueled’ night with Julian Assange

Pamela Anderson is known for drastic and dramatic looks – including a new one that has been hit with mixed reviews, but some may be surprised to learn of her close friendship with Julian Assange, which once led to a “frisky” night together.
The actress and advocate, 58, opened up about their relationship in an excerpt from her 2023 memoir, Love, Pamela.
And while these days she gushes about chemistry with her The Naked Gun co-star Liam Neeson, her book recounts her exploits over the years as a bombshell who had notorious steamy moments with her ex-husband, Tommy Lee, and others.
And while her time with Assange didn’t fall into the same category, Anderson did reveal more about a night the two shared where they enjoyed more alcohol than they potentially planned to initially.
In the excerpt, she recounts visiting him during his nearly seven years living in the Ecuadorian embassy in London, as well as his nearly five years in Belmarsh prison after that.
Assange notably stayed in the Ecuardorian embassy after gaining attention with the founding of WikiLeaks, which leaked several top secret classified documents and information from the U.S. Government. He lived there as he sought to avoid extradition to Sweden on a separate matter.
Assange had been granted asylum by the Ecuadorians on the grounds of political persecution and fears he could be extradited to the United States. After Ecuador rescinded his asylum in 2019, he was quickly arrested and jailed for breaching the United Kingdom Bail Act, and sentenced to 50 weeks.
Following a plea deal with the U.S., he was released in 2024 and flew back to his native country of Australia. During his time as a refugee and prisoner though, Anderson admitted she became a close friend, fondly recalling the night in question in her book.
“One night, Julian and I shared a strong bottle of mescal. We passed out, and I woke up at four in the morning with his cat on my chest,” she wrote. “We’d both fallen asleep following a slightly frisky, fun, alcohol-induced night together.”
“My car was still waiting outside, and I’m sure that sent some tongues wagging. WE joked about getting hitched on the front steps of the embassy – maybe then they wouldn’t arrest him? But then again, he joked, why would he give up one prison for another?” she continued.
“His sense of humor – funny in an uncanny way and so alarmingly smart – made me think of some friends and family with similar quirks of brilliance and social awkwardness. They didn’t know what to do with their unique minds,” she added.
She also recalled being the first person to visit him at Belmarsh., saying he was a “mild-mannered person,” who was being broken down” and “psychologically tortured.”
She also seemingly credited her pivot to a more natural look in recent years to Assanfe’s mother, who wanted her her bombshell image was overshadowing her genuine smarts.
