Novak Djokovic is trying in every way to remain competitive at the highest level despite being almost 38 years old, testifying to how much he loves tennis and competition in general. After a fairly disappointing season last year – saved only by the resounding triumph at the Paris Olympics – the former world number 1 shocked everyone by deciding to hire Andy Murray as his new coach to help him in the last part of his career.
This news was announced in November 2024 and it was unknown how long their collaboration, which began at the 2025 Australian Open, would last. The 24-time Grand Slam champion failed to triumph at Melbourne Park, but his performances had led to optimism having reached the semi-finals after defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the previous round.
In the subsequent tournaments of his schedule, the Serbian legend faced the same difficulties as in the 2024 season, not finding the right consistency and accusing heavy empty passes. Although he reached the final at the Miami Open, Nole’s 2025 cannot be considered satisfactory for the moment and some are beginning to doubt Murray’s actual usefulness in his box.
