Camila Giorgi re-emerges in new job after leaving tennis in shroud of controversy for modeling career

Former Italian tennis star Camila Giorgi has returned to the court in a new role after sensationally quitting the sport last year to reportedly move to America to become a lingerie model.

The 33-year-old – who had been ranked as high as No. 26 in the world – last played a professional tennis match in March 2024, before disappearing out of the public eye.

News of her calling time on her career then broke last May when she was named on the International Tennis Integrity Agency’s list of retired players, with Giorgi later confirming her sporting career was over.

During the months that followed several pictures of her in skimpy lingerie were shared on her social media accounts, as she pursued a career as a lingerie model.

However, in recent months it was revealed on her Instagram that she had left the US to move to Argentina.

And it appears her next career move is now official, after appearing at the ATP Buenos Aires as a courtside reporter, interviewing local tennis stars such as Seba Báez and Guido Pella for the tournament’s official account.

Whether her appearance is a one-off or if she is chasing a gig in the media world is unknown.

But the Italian appeared to be a natural as she interviewed several South American stars of the game.

End to Camila Giorgi’s tennis career shrouded in drama

Giorgi has been at the center of several controversial cases in the last 12 months but things now seem to have calmed, as she sets up her new life in Argentina with boyfriend Ramiro Marra.

Giorgi’s drama began in May last year when it was reported the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) had been unable to get hold of her for two months.

At that time, speculation was rife over a reported move to the US, with some suggesting she fled her native country in a bid to evade tax authorities.
