'I can't live like that' – Tough reality of David Beckham's fame becomes 'horribly' clear.

Ruud Gullit has opened up on the “horrible” aspects of David Beckham’s fame during his time managing the star at LA Galaxy. The Dutch icon, who briefly took charge of the Los Angeles outfit in late 2007 when Beckham was part of the MLS team, witnessed firsthand the intense scrutiny and pressure that came with Beckham’s celebrity status.
Gullit observed how the Manchester United icon was constantly hounded by media and fans alike, often being provoked in hopes of eliciting a reaction.
This Friday, as Beckham celebrates his 50th birthday, his status as one of the most iconic footballers ever remains as significant as it was at the height of his career.

Despite the challenges, Gullit, who knows fame well as a former AC Milan great and Premier League manager, commended Beckham for his handling of such invasive attention, noting that people often sought “bad things” from the Three Lions legend.
“I’ve been on that mountain [of fame] and I had to laugh when I was coach at LA Galaxy,” Gullit said on the Stick to Football Podcast. “David Beckham was there, I said, ‘David, I don’t want to trade [lives] with you’ – I’ve been there, done that. I said, ‘I can’t live like that, how can you do that?’ and he just [sighed] and said, ‘Yeah’.
