Jenna Ortega's New Movie Set for Digital Debut After Bombing in Theaters

Jenna Ortega’s latest film, the psychological thriller Hurry Up Tomorrow, is reportedly already eyeing its digital release date less than one month after its theatrical debut. The news breaks after the movie was heavily criticized and bombed at the box office

When to Stream reports that Hurry Up Tomorrow will head to video on demand and digital platforms on June 6, 2025. Lionsgate has not confirmed this date, and it may be subject to change. The film had its theatrical debut on May 16, and was slammed as being a vanity project for its writer, producer and star, Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye. It is a companion to The Weeknd’s album of the same name, with the singer and actor starring as a fictionalized version of himself. Hurry Up Tomorrow chronicles his struggles with depression and insomnia as he meets a mysterious stalker fan named Anima (played by Ortega).

The Weeknd praised Ortega’s acting in the film, revealing that she even took the reins in one scene. “Jenna brought so much depth to the character. There was a scene where [director/co-writer] Trey [Edward Shults] and I looked at each other like, ‘On paper, this is just ridiculous — how is it going to translate on screen?’,” he revealed. “[S]he said, ‘I have an idea.’ She led that whole scene — none of it was rehearsed, and a lot of my reactions in it are not acting.
