
Nelly Korda, the No. 1 golfer in the world, entertained Classic fans in the early afternoon by signing autographs in the rain. She shot a 5-under-par 66 to put her in a tie for 14th after shooting even Friday.
Meanwhile, Japan’s Yuri Yoshida aced the 17th hole, a 113-yard par 3. She sits in a tie for seventh at 7-under.
Ilhee Lee sits atop the leaderboard after shooting a 3-under to bring her total to 11-under. Japan’s Mao Saigo pulled within one stroke of the lead with a 6-under Saturday. Japan’s Ayaka Furue is also at 10-under through two rounds.
Ilhee Lee, of South Korea, and Elizabeth Szokol, of the United States, came into Saturday leading the field at 8-under-par.
The $1.75 million, 54-hole Classic began in 1986 and has been held every year since except for a three-year gap from 2007-09.
The 37th Classic begins at 7:15 a.m. Friday and concludes Sunday on the Bay Course at Seaview, a Dolce Hotel. Linnea Strom is the defending champion.
