Ex-British player recommends Emma Raducanu to give call to Andy Murray

Former British tennis player and current analyst Barry Cowan thinks Emma Raducanu should consider giving Andy Murray a call because he believes they could be a great fit together.

Raducanu has had a tumultuous year when it comes to her coaching started as she abruptly lost coach Nick Cavaday after the Australian Open. In March, she had an unsuccessful two-week stint with Vladimir Platenik before adding Mark Petchey to her team.

On the other side, Murray shocked the entire tennis world when he was announced as Novak Djokovic’s coach for 2025. However, their collaboration didn’t bring much and the two called time on their partnership last week.

Just as the British tennis legend split with Djokovic, it was confirmed that Raducanu would work with Petchey through the grass season. But there are no guarantees for their future.

Cowan: Murray would be great for Raducanu

“What about Andy working with Raducanu? How about that? It’s unlikely but I think he’d be great for Emma. I’ve been encouraged by her tennis the last couple of months, and I think she has made improvements. She still needs more matches. Realistically, for Emma, the way she plays, Wimbledon is a great shot,” Cowan said on talkSPORT.

In the past, Raducanu stated multiple times that she grew up watching Murray and looked up to him. But when she received a chance to play mixed doubles with the former two-time Wimbledon champion in the Briton’s farewell at The Championships, she pulled up at the last moment. That drew criticism from Murray’s mother Judy.
