Quote of the Day: Emma Raducanu “literally won a Slam,” in case anyone forgot
“I'm a Slam champion, so no one's going to take that away from me,” Raducanu said. “If anything, the pressure is on those who haven't done that.”

After bowing out of Wimbledon in the second round, the 19-year-old Brit shut down any idea that feeling “pressure” could be a factor in her US Open title defense at the end of the summer.
I’m not sure which is more daunting for British players: stepping onto Centre Court before their Wimbledon match, or stepping into the press room to field media questions after an early defeat.
Emma Raducanu did both on Wednesday afternoon at SW19, after being outplayed 6-3, 6-3 by a dialed-in Caroline Garcia in the second round. It put an end to the 19-year-old’s fairytale homecoming, which had seen her make a winning Centre Court debut against Alison van Uytvanck.
With her grass-court season over, Raducanu will now turn her attention to the North American hard-court swing—and her US Open title defense bid, which awaits at the end of the summer.
